Hillary earned a Master of Arts in Counseling degree from Spring Arbor University (2020) and is licensed in the state of Michigan as a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) and the State of Illinois as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). After starting CCGL with her co-owners in 2020, her family transitioned to Illinois in 2024 and she began working at Monte Nido Chicago Day Treatment as a PHP/IOP Primary Therapist where she worked with clients who were in a higher level of care for eating disorders. Her experience working these different levels of care also provided further experience working with clients struggling with various mental illnesses including a variety of eating disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, OCD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and various personality disorders. After a year away, Hillary realized that she missed the atmosphere of private practice and CCGL, so she transitioned back and is currently seeing clients through telehealth exclusively. Hillary believes the counseling process is a mutually constructive effort between both the client and the counselor. Her approach to counseling is to gain understanding of the client as a whole person. In order for change to occur, the client must feel like they have the space to be their authentic selves. She offers interventions from various schools of treatment thought, choosing interventions based on their suitability and perceived benefit to the client and his or her stated goals. In her work, Hillary is ultimately concerned about addressing the client’s feelings, thoughts, and behaviors as these will determine how far and how quickly a client will progress. She works with clients to address their presenting problem in a collaborative manner using unconditional positive regard, empathy, validation, interpersonal feedback, and skills training. Hillary believes every client wants to feel seen and heard; and is honored to get to journey alongside her clients and offer hope and healing.
